The usages of today and tomorrow

The digital economy is a key factor in the growth of tomorrow. Thanks to Public Initiative Networks, this shift is no longer only occurring in big cities, but also in rural areas.

New companies are being set up and consumers are increasingly feeling the benefits of the competition and innovation this brings. Nearly 150 telecommunications companies are now using networks operated by Axione.

These companies not only represent local jobs but also bring innovation and significantly increased competitiveness for many SMEs and local public services:

  • In the Loire, a PIN has served as a catalyst for collaboration between several organisations in the healthcare sector. Widespread access to super-fast fibre optic broadband for businesses has enabled these organisations to implement a project in line with recommendations set out by the ASIP (Shared Healthcare Information Systems Agency) and the Loire now offers a platform that uses a SaaS model for storing digital medical images on a private Cloud (dedicated digital resources, hosted remotely and accessed via a private network) and a teleradiology economic interest group. They have also been able to develop telemedicine services, such as remote stroke (CVA) diagnosis.
     
  • In Limousin, we have seen the emergence of regional digital educational services as part of a coordinated project to install fibre optic connections between secondary schools and key training centres. Among other things, this has allowed for distance learning and training, content streaming (without the need to download), IP telephony, the development of virtual working environments, videoconferencing and virtual libraries.
     
  • In the Nièvre department, the departmental council has installed fibre optic connections linking 79 of its sites, including 22 schools. The aim of this strategy is to develop different usages (such as voice over IP and videoconferencing) and pool technical resources (decommissioning of remote servers). In addition to this, one of the schools was selected by the Ministry of Education to benefit from educational support and specific investment to allow it to further integrate digital technologies into teaching and life at the school.
     
  • In Pau-Pyrénées, France's first ever 100% FTTH metropolitan network has enabled CS Communication & Systèmes, in partnership with Turbomeca and the Greater Pau-Pyrénées Community Council, to set up a digital simulation centre to support local SMEs with their R&D programmes. The Centre de Simulation de Pau provides an effective holistic service that is open to all industrial stakeholders, particularly those working in the aeronautics, defence, nuclear, energy and transport industries. The community council has also set up 'Pau Cité Multimédia', a business park dedicated to digital businesses that has led to the creation of 1,500 jobs.
     
  • In the Charente-Maritime department, the water utility company Régie d’Exploitation des Services d’Eau has switched to fibre optic (FTTB at 20 Mbps) in order to improve its internal processes and develop new services for its customers.
     
  • In the Ardèche and Drôme departments, Jaillance (a leading brand that makes sparkling wines for supermarket distribution) has chosen fibre optic in order, on the one hand, to ensure that its Internet connection remains secure and, on the other, to develop complementary services, such as a disaster recovery plan, remote data backup, using applications in hosted mode and digitalising customs procedures.
     
  • Public Initiative Networks have enabled many regions to install fibre optic connections between departmental fire and emergency services (Services Départementaux d’Incendie et de Secours or SDIS). Thanks to super-fast broadband, they now benefit from more modern tools (VPN) and more efficient communication and alert systems (resulting in faster response times).
     
  • In the Maine-et-Loire department, Groupe Brangeon (logistics/environmental services) has been able to install fibre optic connections between its different sites thanks to the Melisa PIN, allowing it to secure its connections and put in place a disaster recovery plan. The group is now in a position to deal with a critical situation without fear that its business will be affected.

  

 Hundreds of industrial groups, SMEs and public services now have access to fibre optic technology and super-fast broadband, such as Groupe Pierre Fabre in Pau-Pyrénées and Valrhona (Groupe Revillon) in the Drôme department. Remote backup, disaster recovery plans, secure connections and digitalised data are just some of the benefits offered by fibre optic and super-fast broadband that reflect a scaling-up in operations.
